Fresh me vs.
Scrombie.

Stop doomscrolling, save face.

Same face. Two and a half hours of scrolling apart.

Pick a face: one of eight characters, or your own selfie. Every minute on your doomscroll apps drains it, from Fresh to Tired, Drained, Hollow and finally Scrombie. Midnight brings it back.

Free for iPhone. Scrombie Pro is optional.

Your screen time has a face now.

  1. Pick who gets drained.

One of eight drawn characters, or a selfie. A selfie is processed on your phone and never uploaded.

  2. Pick your doomscroll apps.

Choose them with Apple's Screen Time picker: social, video, games, streaming, whole categories or websites. Then set a daily budget (an hour, to start).

  3. Watch it happen.

Every few minutes on those apps, the face drains a little more. Hit your budget and you're Hollow. Double it and you're a Scrombie. At midnight you're Fresh again.

Fresh to Scrombie in five stages.

The color goes first, then the eyes, then the whole face hollows out. No gore, no aging, nothing about your body: just a face running out of life. Try it with any of the eight. In the app it runs on your real minutes, or on your selfie.

Or use a selfie. Scrombie drains your own face, on your phone.

The stages, on a one-hour budget

Hollow starts exactly at your budget: that's the day you blew it. A day only counts toward your streak if it never went Hollow.

Your home screen calls you out.

Put your face on your home screen and every unlock shows what's left of you. The widget doesn't nag. It just looks tired.

Small and medium widgets for the home screen, a ring for the Lock Screen. Free, like the face itself.

Hollow at 1h 20m on a one-hour budget. Example, not anyone's real day.

Post the damage.

One tap makes a story-sized card: Fresh you beside today's you, the vitality left, and today's total in your own words. Share it, or save it and post it wherever you post.

Every Sunday there's a Scrombie Week card: the week's total, days survived, your worst stage and your streak.

Cards never list which apps you used. A card is made on your phone and goes only where you send it. Daily and weekly cards are free and carry the date.

Fresh me vs. Scrombie. The daily card, before/after style.
Scrombie Week. Lands every Sunday morning.

It's your face. It stays yours.

Your face stays on your phone.
A selfie is processed on the phone with Apple's own frameworks and stored in the app. It's never uploaded to us: Scrombie has no servers and no accounts.
Scrombie never learns which apps.
Screen Time access goes through Apple's Family Controls, for your own phone only. Apple tells Scrombie when today's total passes a mark, not what you were using.
No ads. No tracking.
No ad networks and no analytics. Your usage is never used for advertising, sold or shared.
Cards leave when you send them.
Nothing is shared until you tap Share or Save, and only the card you previewed.

The only outside service is RevenueCat, which checks whether you have Pro. It never sees your photo or your usage. Details in the privacy policy.

When the face isn't enough.

Scrombie is a mirror first. If you want it to actually stop you, Scrombie Pro gives it teeth.

Face look off? Tell us.

We keep tuning how fast faces drain and how each stage looks. If your selfie drains strangely, a stage comes too early or too late, or one of the characters doesn't look like it should, email us: admin@loriccoandco.com

Everything stays on your phone, so an email is the only way we hear about it. A description is plenty; you don't need to send your photo.

Questions

Anything else is on the support page.

Does it block apps?

Not unless you ask it to. Scrombie is a mirror first: it shows you the cost. Turn on Lockdown (Scrombie Pro) and your doomscroll apps are shielded until midnight once you hit the stage you pick: Hollow, at your budget, or Scrombie, at double.

Which apps count?

The ones you pick with Apple's Screen Time picker: single apps, whole categories, or websites. Games and streaming count too. You can change them any time in Settings.

What happens at midnight?

You're Fresh again. Yesterday goes into your history, and if it never went Hollow, your streak grows. The first time you open Scrombie in the morning, it tells you how yesterday went.

Is my selfie uploaded anywhere?

No. The photo is processed and stored on your phone. Scrombie has no servers and no accounts. It leaves the phone only inside a card you choose to share or save.

Can Scrombie see what I'm doing on my phone?

No. Apple's Screen Time framework does the counting and tells Scrombie only when today's total crosses a mark. The app never receives the names of the apps you use. The privacy policy has the details.

How exact are the minutes?

Close, not to the second. Totals update every 5 minutes (every 15 after 3 hours) and stop counting at 8 hours, so the app shows “8h+” after that.

Can I use it on my kid's phone?

No. Scrombie uses Screen Time for your own phone only, not Family Sharing's parental controls. It isn't meant for children under 13.

How much is it?

Free. Scrombie Pro is $3.99 a month or $24.99 a year, and the yearly plan starts with a one-week free trial.

When can I get it?

Soon. It's an iPhone app (iOS 17.4 or later). This page gets the App Store link the day it's live.
